This is the Flight Training syllabus for the initial Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate. This syllabus will provide you with training and practice in a complex aircraft to prepare you for the check-ride. Also included is 4 hours of ground training in preparation for the check-ride oral.
This syllabus does not include aircraft time for the check-ride and can only be used as a guideline for training. For those candidates who have extensive recent experience, perhaps with some experience flying from the right seat, the times may be shorter. For candidates with less recent experience and who may need additional time to transition to the right seat some additional time may be need to be added.
This syllabus does not include spin training and the spin endorsement. This training can typically be accomplished in an hour in an appropriate aircraft.
The flight training consists of 10 flight hours and typically requires 4-5 days with an additional day for the check-ride.
